Week 5
Week 5
1. If an adult is buying a Playstation even as gift, that
adult is the customer. Whether or not they intend to give it away, that adult
is making the conscientious decision if the Playstation is worth buying. Playstation
was able to target the adult enough to come in and purchase it.
2. Complex sneakers posted two social media ads featuring pop
culture icons and trend setters Busta Rhymes, Rae Sremmurd, and Dj khalid.
Complex is targeting the younger generation and street wear fans, showing their
influencers rave about the expensive shoes they had just purchased to draw more
attention. Complex brought humor into the situation, also not presenting them
as true “advertisements”, but rather showing the influencers in a home video
type of scenario making it more relatable. The consumers of these product’s
likely younger men and women who listen to their music. Complex is appealing to
the status of these stars so their fans who idolize them will be more inclined
to purchase. I like the second one better, not because I thought the ad was better,
but I am a bigger Rae Sremmurd fan then the other celebrities. Yes, I do
believe id be able to use my phone to produce a short video ad with the
different app options available. I would also use the similar tactic of showing
everyone involved having a good time, most likely at some type of event.
3. My favorite user
generated content campaign came from Buffer on the list. My favorite aspect of
their campaign is that the images are not promotional. There is so much fake
news out there today and fake ads of user posting pictures with waters bottles
and other miscellaneous items, as im sure everyone has seen. It is nice to see
a company who doesn’t seem to care about that. The posts are also relatable, everyone
loves to travel and see pictures from exotic places. The puppy eating snow is
also tough not to love.
4. With the hemp industry growing at an alarming rate especially
in Maine. Maine Hempworks are a local business using hemp for different oils
and butters, to help improve consumers body care.
5. Johnny was dealing with cognitive dissonance. He was dealing
the decision he had made when he purchased the expensive lafuma shoes. He had spent
more money on a product he felt had lesser benefits. Before buying the lafuma
shoes, he could have tried both pairs on to make a more informed decision.
7. Reddit or any other streaming site is a going to be a good
example of the free-rider problem. Millions of viewers go to their site to stream
professional games, shows, and events for free, and only a select few are posting
the links. With our groups in consideration, a large problem could arise if a
member decides they do not want to participate in any of the work, but plan to
put their name on it and take credit. To mitigate an issue like this its up to
the other group members to divide up equal work and hold each other accountable.
8. Net neutrality is
the idea that all data on the internet is equal. No single providers can charge
or slow down, for use of the internet content (other than regular internet
costs) . Im for net neutrality and treating it all the same and equal across
the board.
